The Balanced Sessions is a series of health and wellness workshops designed to give everyone attending an evening of movement, food and drink, networking and education. On May 29th, we welcome Breanna Walker, Karen Hefford and Katie Fagan - aka St. Graye to lead us through a calming, musically guided yoga offering, followed by an intimate and reflective self love and body positivity workshop.

We are going to go deep and celebrate our selves, our bodies and our abilities. Through yoga and music we will move and play, through food and drink we will celebrate and through our self-reflection workshop we will honor, cherish and love ourselves and one-another.

About the Leaders:

Host: Danielle Boyd

Danielle is a physiotherapist from North Vancouver with a passion for health, wellness and travel. In her career as a physio, she realized that it is very easy to get caught into cycles of burnout and stress and decided to learn more about self care and stress management. In her quest to find balance in her own life and career, she began sharing the insights she gained through conversations with other health care practitioners and entrepreneurs on her blog and podcast. She held her first health and wellness retreat in Mexico this past October as part of her mission to help others find self-care strategies and give people a chance to unwind in a balanced way. The Balanced Sessions are her latest endeavor to help others find their own version of balance.

Breanna Walker

Breanna is a Vancouver-based Kinesiologist and Yoga Teacher, believes in prioritizing self-care and inspiring others to do the same. Her passion for evidence-based, wisdom-centred healthcare lead her to her current role as an Exercise Therapist at InspireHealth Supportive Cancer Care. At InspireHealth, she coaches cancer patients in safely incorporating physical activity, yoga and meditation into their recovery program. Breanna is involved with Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland and supports community groups that advocate for female health and empowerment. When she isn't at work or in the studio, you can find her with loved ones at the beach, in the forest, or climbing mountains -all over the world.

Karen Hefford

Karen is a musician and yoga teacher in Vancouver, who is currently finishing her Masters in Theology at Regent College. She is interested in the relationships between spirituality, spheres of wellness, and artistic expression. Together, Karen and her music partner Katie formed a folk music duo in 2016 which explores the ways music promotes wellness, preserves communal memory, and inspires inter-generational connection. Their most recent album is a compilation of traditional folk songs from the Pacific Northwest: a retelling of one facet of this province’s history though song. Katie Fagan a.k.a ST.GRAYE is your pocket hype man, singer/songwriter, lover of fitness & all things PR. After being diagnosed with a rare spinal tumor in late 2015, Katie was faced with the reality that her life would be changing dramatically, for good.
